Christiana Hospital

Christiana Care Health System is the sixth busiest for emergency visits in the U.S. with Christiana Hospital Emergency Department serving as the flagship. This facility is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state for both adult and pediatric patients and has an annual census of 110,00 visits per year.

DFES also provides the academic faculty for the Christiana Care Emergency Medicine Residency and the Christiana Care Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. The diverse patient population, combined with a higher acuity, creates an exceptional environment for educating the next generation of Emergency physicians.

Wilmington Hospital

Since 1890, Wilmington Hospital has served the needs of the largest metropolitan area in Delaware. Located just 30 miles south of Philadelphia, this facility provides care to both an inner-city and suburban population.  This historical hospital underwent a complete renovation in 2015, Fully modernized Wilmington Hospital Emergency Department sees an average census of  60,000 patients a year and is becoming a level III trauma center in the Delaware Trauma System.  This hospital serves as one of the primary locations for the Christiana Care Emergency Medicine Residency.

 

 

Middletown Emergency Department

Middletown Emergency Department serves the fastest growing community in Delaware. This recently constructed 36,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility was designed using LEAN principles for maximum efficiency.  With an extremely low door to doctor time this site provides rapid care to over 27,000 visits annually.
