George obtained his BA at Harvard University in 1989, where he was also Vice President of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals (insert “likes to cross-dress”) and did the underground circuit in stand-up comedy in Cambridge, MA.. He got his MD in 1993 at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA and completed his Emergency Medicine residency in 1996 at the Medical Center of Delaware, where he was chief resident. George worked for a year at Episcopal Hospital in northeast Philadelphia before joining DFES full-time back in Delaware in 1997. George has a special clinical interest in wound healing and has been a staff member of the Christiana Wound Care Center since 1998. He received his diploma in Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine in 2010. George is married to Dr. Lani Nelson-Zlupko (Harvard ’89), who has a thriving clinical therapy practice in north Wilmington, and has three wonderful children, Gian, Tyler, and Talia. When he is not saving lives or disimpacting people, George is the lead-singer and blues harpist for Runnin’ Late, that famous Wilmington band ‘everyone is talking about’.
